The film begins like the novel with a narrator who informs us
that Earth was being observed by uncompassionate and very
intelligent extraterrestrials, their goal being to take Earth
from the humans.
There are some very impressive special effects. The progression
of the film is logical.
The one negative thing most sci-fi lovers find in this film is
the extreme amount of violence and blood scenes. There are too
many for this type of film.
People's opinions are divided, some people say the original
version is a lot better others say this new version is the best.
One beauty of the film is that is doesn't focus on a singular
president or the typical soldier who kills them all. It focuses
on a simple American family and a father who suddenly has to
take care of his children and has to save them from the alien
species.
We also must mention the very good acting of Dakota Fanning, the
little 10 year old daughter, she is very convincing throughout
the movie.
