The movie is set in the year 2084. We
find a construction worker called Douglas Quaid who has dreams
of being on the planet Mars with a certain attractive woman who
just happens not to be his wife. He goes to a company called
Rekall which implants imaginary holidays to get a "vacation" on
Mars.
Quaid decides to travel to Mars as a
secret agent in his imaginary dreams. It all goes wrong as
Quaids overdoses and goes ape. He decides to really travel to
Mars to find out why he dreams of it so much. The film works
really well as it makes you doubt if he is in a dream still or
if he is at Rekall.
Some people consider this to be one of
the greatest action films of all time, it is also considered
Schwarzenegger's best film.
The special effects are really good as
well as the script, it doesn't waste a lot of time and there are
some very funny scenes and some very well designed action
sequences. It’s a must in any sci-fi collection.
There are some very good scenes on the
red planet in a world of espionage with mutant rebels and alien
conspiracies.
