Country : United States

This film was released in cinemas only two weeks after E.T. The film was actually a remake of the 1951 movie called "The Thing from Another World", considered a classic in the sci-fi world. For the time it has some pioneering makeup and special effect techniques.

One of the best elements of this film is the stomach-churning make up effects which really take the viewer further into the plot.

Most of the movie was filmed on a glacier in British Columbia which helped to create the Antarctic setting.

The film also includes an all-male cast lead by Kurt Russell.

The plot takes a group of scientist to a remote ice station to carry out research after the discovery of a UFO imbedded in the ice.

Not knowing what will happen next is the great success of this film, it's not the usual plot that can be guessed before it happens. Of course the incredible special effects help to keep the suspense.

In a way this movie reminds us of the famous Alien, if you enjoyed watching Alien you will enjoy this movie. You will be kept in a state of suspense all the way through.

The realistic sense of the film makes you wonder how you would react to a similar isolated situation. How you would react towards your friends or workmates knowing that any of them could be a deadly alien.
