The plot is set in 2004 Earth. The Earth's satellites detect a
mysterious heat beneath an island near the Antarctica at the
same time as a Predator ship nears the Earth. A team of
scientists is assembled to investigate the island. The team is
formed by palaeontologists, linguistic experts, mercenaries,
archaeologists, drillers and we can't forget Alexa Woods, the
rough female guide.
This quite average sci-fi movie can be classed as an action
thriller. It seems a bit of a jumble to mix the two popular
movies. Actually when you finish watching it the question is
usually "Is that it?" You expect some more to the movie.
The movie has some excellent special effects, there are some very
good effects of both alien and predator during their fighting.
The sequence at the Aztec Pyramid is also quite spectacular, it’s
very dark and helps to build up the suspense. The directing of
the movie is also very good, the props are very realistic with
some very close shots.
You will see some scenes which look familiar, well yes, they are,
some scenes were taken from the original alien and predator
films.
In my opinion it’s best to consider this a totally independent
movie and not to try to relate it to the alien or predator
sagas.
