New Mexico, 1947. A radio operator receives a signal that follows a
pattern, he starts investigating, but he vanishes.
Present day, a satellite captures images of an unknown object in
the Antarctic; a base in Malvina Island transmits the same
signal to the United States.
They think of Julian Rome, a renowned cryptologist, linguist and
mathematician who once worked on the SETI project, to
investigate the mystery so he sets off to the research base in
the South Pole.
Julian has to investigate the signal as well as the strange case.
The film has some very good acting, Carl Lewis, the former Olympic
gold medallist plays the communications officer.
This is the typical film where we find an unknown object and you
ask yourself if it is a sign of intelligence outside this world
or something more prosaic.
We are also waiting for some form of life to appear from the
object, whether benign or hostile.
Apart from the main plot we can also find a subplot regarding the
previous relationship between Julian and one of his ex-students
who now works as a researcher at the station.
It’s a good film for those who like the genre.
