Xfiles to Reopen in 2008

Final negotiations are underway for a new X-Files film,
according to David Duchovny. Speaking at the launch
of new movie The TV Set, Duchovny told journalists that
a deal could be finalised this week, with shooting planned
for no later than 2008.
The actor said that no script had been completed, but
confirmed that "the story will revolve around Gillian's
character, Dana Scully, and my character, Fox Mulder."
He added that Robert Patrick, who replaced Duchovny
for much of seasons eight and nine, would not appear.
The X-Files ran for nine years from 1993 on Fox in the
US, with the first movie (called simply The X-Files)
appearing in 1998, between seasons five and six of
 the TV show.
A lawsuit filed by the show's creator, Chris Carter,
against 20th Century Fox has previously been blamed for
the lack of any subsequent films. The lawsuit, over profits
from the show, has not yet been resolved.
