Star Wars - 30th Anniversary

A long time ago, in a theater far, far away Star Wars landed on the screen, within weeks the concept of sci-fi geek changed.

Let's take a step back in time this movie changed everything, it became cool to be a sci-fi dork.

What did dorks have before Star Wars?

Charlton Heston, and the depressing view of the planet :  "Planet of the Apes": The world had been nuked or "Beneath the Planet of the Apes": The world was nuked again.

"Omega Man": everyone wiped out by a virus, except for pasty zombie army led by a former TV anchorman.

In these old movies the hero always died at the end.

Then came Star Wars, it was everything the culture had denied geeks.

It had good guys and bad guys, and lots of lasers. It had the best special effects ever seen on the screen, from the complex and kinetic spacecraft battles to Princess Leia's motionless earmuff hairstyle.

Villains? we had one of the best villains ever created, Darth Vader.

And what an ending, Han Solo  conquers his selfishness and redeems himself.

Luke Skywalker uses the Force to blow up Peter Cushing and his Death Star.

Star Wars saved science fiction. You could even say that Star Wars saved Star Trek, this serial was not having its best moment, but fans soon returned and the first Star Trek film was made.
